Good body hygiene contributes to a healthy lifestyle
Good body hygiene contributes to a healthy lifestyle and is based on a set of daily steps to keep our body clean, to ensure good health.
Body hygiene: the shower
It is recommended to take a shower a day, neither too long nor too hot, at the risk of drying the skin. However, it is not recommended to wash your hair daily, to prevent it from growing too quickly. The shower eliminates:
The sweat;
Excess sebum;
Part of the microbes;
Dirt accumulated on the surface of the skin.
The personal care products used for showering should be carefully chosen, in particular according to the type of skin and the different areas of the body:
The skin is cleaned with a shower gel, soap, shower oil, etc.
The facial cleansing requires for its specific products adapted to skin type and to everyone's taste: soap or gel, cream or foam cleaner.
Intimate hygiene
The outer vulvar area is made up of mucous membrane, whose constitution and functioning are different from the skin. The pH is, for example, more alkaline, which makes it a more sensitive area.
For intimate hygiene, we will therefore prefer mild and soothing body soaps to overly detergent shower gels.
Hand cleaning: an essential gesture of personal hygiene
Think stock
Good hand hygiene helps to limit infections. In contact with everything around us, our hands are carriers of bacteria and viruses, especially during a flu or gastroenteritis epidemic. It is recommended to wash your hands:
Every time we went to the bathroom;
Before going to the table;
After making a trip by public transport...
The use of soap and water, with friction on the palm, between the fingers and under the nails, for at least 15 seconds, is sufficient for daily cleaning of the hands. Hydro-alcoholic solutions must be reserved for periods of epidemics, in the medical environment, or in the absence of soap and water.
Body hygiene and foot cleaning
To avoid the proliferation of bacteria and bad odors, the feet should be cleaned daily, in the shower for example, with soap and water.
Particular care must be taken when drying. There should be no trace of moisture, especially between the toes, to avoid the appearance of yeast infections.
Similarly, socks should be changed daily or after physical activity.
Personal hygiene and tooth brushing
Brushing your teeth should be done at least twice a day: after breakfast and before bedtime using a toothbrush and toothpaste. It can possibly be supplemented by a mouthwash.
Brushing your teeth helps eliminate plaque, which is responsible for cavities, and helps fight halitosis (also known as bad breath).
The cleanliness of the linen
Good body hygiene goes, in addition to washing the body, by cleaning the tissues in contact with it:
The underwear must be changed every day.
In the bathroom, it is advisable to regularly change the towels used for the toilet, and change the washcloths after each use because they keep bacteria, which thrive in humid environment.
In the toilet or kitchen, you should regularly change the towel or cloth used for drying hands. It should also be left to dry between two uses.
